Type R = Coating Gelatin. To undercoat/overcoat photographic emulsions or make an undercoat if working with pre-manufactured liquid emulsions.
This highly-purified, chemically inactive coating (supercoating) photo gelatin can be used in daylight. Just stir 40-80 grams into 1 Liter of 40° C. hot water until completely dissolved. It can then be used as a base coat on highly absorbent surfaces, to minimize the amount of photo emulsion used.
The gelatin can also be used to improve the glossiness of fiber (baryta) paper when using a hot print dryer.
This gelatin is not light sensitive. You must add silver halides.
