FX-39 is a legend.
Geoffrey Crawley spent 40 years to research different recipees and then introduces this masterpiece at the heyday of analogue photography.
FX-39 is based on Willi Beutlers Neofin Red, but has been optimized in all parameters.
This developer is very good for pushing if the deloping time is prolonged.
FX-39 is equalizing, raises sensitivity and develops sharp and rich in detail. So much positive features come at a price: FX-39 is not the most fine-grained developer.
If very fine grain is very important for you, we recommend to use Atomal or Spur HRX.
Because of this, Crawley called FX-39 a developer for films up to ISO 100/21. But of course also faster films can be developed in FX-39. Just test if you like the grain.
Adox produced this developer for Paterson since 2004. Crawley was personally at Adox and helped to carry over the recipee. Adox promised to keep his master piece alive, if Paterson stopped selling it.
Dilution:
normal 1+9
1+19 for higher equalizing effect. Prolong developing time by 75% compared to 1+9.
Sensitivity becomes lower at 1+19. You exchange film speed for equalizing effect.
